More Favorite Things: Kitchen Necessities

When renovating our kitchen there were a few “extras” that we added in order to make it an even more organized and functional space. Pavlo and I may consider them necessities but in reality they are just things we feel we can’t live without…when you

Remember these chairs that set us back a mere $35 each? Well, as said in The Story of a Kitchen Table they were painted in a Bayberry Green milk paint and awaited a new fabric for the cushions. FINALLY, after 3 long months of waiting

The Splurge: New Master Bedding

The Splurge: New Master Bedding

So, in my last post (which yes, was almost two weeks ago) I mentioned that we had splurged on a new master bedding set. Well, it came in and we’ve set it all up! Here’s what we had before:

After searching and searching I finally found a bedding set that Pavlo and I both really liked. Unfortunately, it was sold at Pottery Barn and didn’t come cheap! After spending some time contemplating this purchase I decided that for the master bedroom it was DEFINITELY worth the splurge. I figured that this is a purchase that should last us for a while (unless boredom strikes…yikes!) so, I went for it!

The new bedding set is not just a comforter with a few decorative pillows, like we had previously, but instead is a duvet (with a striped duvet cover) and quilt giving the room an updated vintage look. I know that “updated vintage look” sounds a bit contradictory but it really is the best way to describe it.

I was actually hesitant to make this purchase, not just because of it’s cost, but because I had done a quilt and duvet combo in the guest room. For some silly reason it bothered me that a similar look would be repeated and my initial reaction was to walk from the Pottery Barn set and continue to look for something different. However, I, I’m sorry we, loved it so much that I went for it with the mindset that the guest bedroom could be easily changed if it continued to bother me…which, good news, it really doesn’t since I feel the two completed rooms look different enough!

The last couple of weeks have consisted of multiple errands (pregnant and with a toddler in tow I might add) in order to complete this master suite. As I see it come together, the exhaustion of running from store to store (once again, pregnant and with a toddler) is totally worth it and I’m really excited to reveal the final product!
