Floors!
On to the floors! We were fortunate enough to be working with a kitchen that already had wonderful red oak floors. This made any decisions concerning the floors minimal, a welcomed change to the millions of decisions we were already making daily! Here are a few pictures of the kitchen and it’s floors before the renovation:
The floors required nothing more than patching and then refinishing in a color of stain that coordinated with our new cabinetry. The floor refinishers were kind enough to put twice the number of samples on my aunt’s floor as they normal do. They generally only do 3 sample patches but somehow my aunt convinced them to do 6! I’m so glad she was able to do this because there are so many different stain colors to choose from and having all 6 of my aunt’s preferences right in front of me made deciding on the final color so much easier. The final stain choice was “provincial” by minwax and the newly refinished floors look amazing!
