Christmas Cards 2011

Christmas Cards 2011

I know Christmas has passed but I just can’t help but post on my super cute 2011 Christmas cards. I will (shamefully) admit that I had never sent out Christmas cards until Landon was born. However, once he was born I went all out and made some with his beautiful picture on it.

Then, the following year (2010) I “one up’d” myself and made cards that (I thought) looked even more amazing!

So this year, after 2 years of making unique Christmas cards, I felt the pressure to keep it up, especially since it was Colette’s first Christmas.

Since I had already used the 2 classic Christmas colors for my previous Christmas Cards I decided to go with a navy blue and off-white (or “Opal” as the product description states) combination.

I glued the smaller opal card centered onto the bottom of the larger blue cards leaving me with something like this

Next I added the holiday message, which I did a little differently this year. Instead of printing the message directly onto the card like I had done in the past, this year I created these hang tags (from business card paper) with the message printed on them. I’m thinking that next year, this same idea would make really amazing, DIY gift tags!

Yup, I even went to the effort of cutting off corners and punching holes for each one. Actually, Pavlo was in charge of corner cutting and hole punching. Lucky for him those weren’t the only things he had to hole punch, he then took on the very daunting task of punching 2 holes in the top of each Christmas card! I figure if he can renovate the whole house then he can punch a few holes in paper! Poor guy had to sit for a while doing nothing but punching holes and watching HGTV. Come to think of it he really took his time on this assignment, there must have been something really interesting on TV!

Ok, back to the cards, using some twine the hang tags were then attached to the card so that it looked something like this

Finally, I added the portrait of the kiddos to the center of the opal paper giving us this beautiful 2011 Christmas card.

Final 2011 Christmas Card

Now, off to think about how I can top it in 2012!

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

    • Haha, yup, I’ve made them since Landon’s 1st Christmas and every year I just get more obsessed with making them different and better! Glad you enjoyed it!
