Eenie, Meenie, Miney

Eenie, Meenie, Miney

Nope, there’s no “Mo” in this scenario! I only chose 3 paint samples for the kitchen so “Mo” was kind of excluded from this decision process! Poor Mo!

Anyways, enough about Mo, we have more important things to talk about, like the fact that the drywall finisher wrapped up this week so the kitchen is offically ready for paint and then cabinets (insert happy dance.) As soon as I got word that paint would be needed soon, I went and grabbed some paint samples. As I said in the last post, Landon offered to help put the samples on the wall:

Landon pitching in!

Here are all three samples as swatches from Sherwin Williams’ website:

Colors as seen on the Sherwin Williams’ website. They often look very different on the paper swatch and when applied to the wall.

And here they are actually on the wall. I have to warn you that even though colors tend to look differently up on a wall, this picture is a TERRIBLE representation of the colors. I blame it on the fact that I forgot my good camera and the lighting wasn’t very good.

Worlds worst picture of color samples on a wall!

Like I said, this is an awful beyond awful portrayal of these colors. The color in the middle (Mystical Shade) turned out to be more of a muddy purple color in person. Let’s just say that it was easily ruled out! The color on the left (Morning Fog) is actually a very pretty blue/gray, it was just very dark and practically matched our base cabinets which, just to remind you, are this color:

Rich grey for our base cabinetry.

I even added a little bit of white to lighten it up, but in the end we still liked color #3 (aka Miney) the best. In the picture it looks pinkish, but you’re just going to have to trust me when I say it really doesn’t look like that. in person. It’s actually a very soft grey with a slightly brownish tint. It really is far closer to Sherwin Williams color swatch, just with a tad more brown. It’s the perfect color for a room with grey and white cabinets and hardwood floors.

Fingers (and toes) crossed we made the right color choice because Pavlo primed last night so it’s going on the walls today! We always prefer to do a coat of paint before the cabinets go in so that when doing the final coat of paint there are no gaps around the cabinets. It can help give a seamless look.
