Range Debacle Follow-Up
Yes, it took until this week to finally resolve the issue we had with our new range. Back in this post I wrote about how excited we were about the industrial style range we had selected. I was fortunate enough to marry someone who loves to cook so you can imagine Pavlo’s excitement when he read the rave reviews on the range from professional chefs who purchased it for their own homes.
Well, you can also imagine Pavlo’s disappointment (and mine to be honest) when we realized they had sent us the wrong model range (more on that here) and after much back and forth with the company’s customer service department, we came to the “agreement” that we would keep the range they sent us but be reimbursed for the difference in price. I say “agreement” because it clearly wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for but since we had ordered through a third party company (not directly from the manufacturer), they had less flexibility…or so they claim.
At any rate, after over a month of going back and forth with this company (who shall not be named and will probably never be used again), we finally just came to the realization that the range we received is still amazing and that any more time arguing with the company could be much better spent. It’s not like they sent us something broken or something completely different that wouldn’t work in our kitchen at all.
Once that ordeal was closed out, Pavlo and a licensed plumber (Pavlo has made it clear he’d rather not deal with gas lines himself) hooked up the range. Even though it wasn’t our original selection, the range does look really nice and we’re happy. No (more) complaints here!
Pavlo has also installed the built in microwave:
As well as the “secret” faucet. It is a stainless steel pull-out spiral faucet by Vigo that also had amazing reviews. Oh and in case you’re wondering, I got it on Overstock.com (for a great price) and when I last looked they had sold out but were anticipating more to come in soon.
Here is the newly installed faucet:
One appliance that has yet to be installed is the dishwasher but that too should be done soon! I just couldn’t wait until that was done to show you these other appliances because we’re really excited with how nicely they’ve all turned out so far!
I repeat, being a cleaning freak, I like the fact that dust and such won’t be seen as readily under this stove as the other one. A friend of mine installed one like the original one you ordered and when it had to be moved out to run a water line behind it, it was so heavy on the legs that it tore the linoleum under the feet, which shows because there is nothing to block the view. In the long run, I think you’ll come to appreciate the one you got.
