Reupholstered Kitchen Chairs
Remember these chairs that set us back a mere $35 each?
Well, as said in The Story of a Kitchen Table they were painted in a Bayberry Green milk paint and awaited a new fabric for the cushions.
FINALLY, after 3 long months of waiting for a mere yard of it, the fabric came in! Then, even after waiting all that time, I didn’t even get around to reupholstering for another month.
I purchased my fabric at Calico Corners which has wonderful, high quality fabric, but can often be expensive. I only needed one yard (and the store was having a sale for 15% off everything) so this wonderful fabric was practically a steal at $20.
Then, I removed the seat cushions, placed them face down on the new fabric and cut the fabric. I did this with both cushions laying on the fabric so that I knew there would be enough to cover them both. You would be amazed at how easily you can mess up a project with a slight mismeasurement!
To attach the fabric I pulled it taught along the sides and, using a staple gun, attached the fabric to the backs of the cushions. One thing to be careful of are folds along the edges of the cushion. The smoother the edges, the better, and more professional, it looks. Trust me when I say that this is far more difficult that in sounds…especially cushion corners! Here is what our chairs look like now:
Take a good look at that aqua colored flower, you should be seeing it again soon!
Many thanks!
