In Good Company

In Good Company

We knew we were in good company when we pulled up to the house one day and saw this beautiful sight fluttering in the breeze:

Wahoowa!

Yes, that happens to be one of two neighbors (both directly across the street) that are proud UVA grads just like Pavlo and myself. Can we say instant friends? I think so!

The next sign we knew we we were in good company was when the neighbor to our right told us she was going to replace her whole fence. I love it when neighbors take pride in their homes’ appearances. It’s not only good for the value of the homes in the neighborhood, but it’s also a wonderful reminder that all the time, money and effort we’re putting into our house isn’t going to waste.

Below is a picture of the old fence. Unfortunately, only the fence along the right side of our yard belonged to the neighbor and therefore got replaced. Our ugly fence along the back edge of the yard is still there…for now!

And here is a picture of the beautiful, new cedar fence our neighbor chose:

New fence

Very nice! At some point we’re going to have to tackle the rest of our yard’s fence to match. For now we need to finish up the interior so we can actually move in, THEN we can focus on items like the fence. Though, I have to say seeing the nice new fence up against the rest of our old one does make me cringe quite a bit!
