Mission Laundry Room, Phase 1

Mission Laundry Room, Phase 1

Unfortunately Pavlo and I haven’t had much time to enjoy the new outdoor space we created because once completed we immediately jumped into our next project, cleaning up the laundry room (aka the dungeon).

This room has truly been the neglected room in the house. Over the course of the last two years it has taken on many functions. It’s not just a laundry room but also a storage room and a workshop. It has everything in it from basic household items (like cleaning products) to the not so basic household items (like paints, spare wood and tons of different tools and building materials). It’s also the main storage room in our house, so, as you can imagine, it was VERY crowded…and messy!

The first phase in fixing up this room was to clean it out! It took us about two solid evenings (and a few of Landon’s nap times) in order to get all the major items out. Those items that were removed were either trashed or put into the basement guestroom. The guestroom is currently acting as a holding place for the things that aren’t going back into the laundry room until it’s completed. You’ll notice in the after shots that even though this is the clean out phase we did leave a few items in there merely because they weren’t going to get in the way of the progress to hopefully occur in phases 2, 3 and so on.

Here is the result of our first phase of work on this room:

Laundry room after phase 1. Sadly, it doesn't even look very cleaned out!

Despite the fact that the laundry room still didn’t look very clean after phase one, the proof is in the fact that the floor our basement guest room looked like this:

We’re now on to phase two! Hopefully this phase will have a little bit more of an impact!
