Mission Laundry Room: Phase 2…well, 1.5

Mission Laundry Room: Phase 2…well, 1.5

Ahh, I’m a failure as a blogger! I can’t believe I let 10 whole days go by without a single post! If it makes you feel any better I haven’t been a complete lazy bum and in actuality, all of the time and energy taken away from blogging has been redirected to other projects that I’m really excited to post about!

I do have to warn you that the changes we’ve made up to this point in the laundry room/storage space/workshop aren’t going to have quite the impact that I had hoped for because Pavlo and I got sidetracked by another, even more exciting, project (all I can say about that project is that I hope you’re ready to follow us on another kitchen renovation)! Before I get too far ahead of myself and jump into posting about that, I figured I would get you quickly caught up on the laundry room’s progress…or lack thereof.

Originally this post was supposed to be phase 2 of “Mission Laundry Room” but I would consider it more of phase 1.5. Since the end of phase 1 (cleaning out this horribly messy room) we have removed some old, crumbling shelves and shifted over the upper cabinets to replace them. After that I painted all of the cabinets a light green color (a second coat is still needed) and Pavlo followed that up by beginning the installation of a nice counter top that will be just perfect for folding clothes!

Here is a picture of the laundry room before phase 1 (clean out) was even begun:

And after phase 1.5:

Yes, I know, not exactly a jaw dropping change, but even cleaned up and with a counter top the room is so much more useful. You can see from the pictures that next on our list is to repair the side of the cabinets, finish painting the cabinets, and then finish the installation of the edge of the counter. Once these things are completed I will be able to confidently say that phase 2 is done and we’ll finally be able to move on to the final phase! We’re well on our way to a great laundry room that we can’t wait to use…ok, that’s a little bit of an exaggeration.

Check back soon because I am hoping to have the first post about our “little” side project up!
