Our First Home!

Our First Home!

Buying a first home can be both extremely exciting and terrifying all at the same time. When my husband, Pavlo, and I embarked on this journey last year we certainly felt this mix of emotions. We couldn’t wait to find the perfect house, close on it, and finally call it home. Oh, if only it were all that simple!

My husband had always dreamt of buying a house and renovating it with his own two hands. I’ll admit that at first I was a little apprehensive about taking on such a task but having seen for myself his talents I quickly realized it wouldn’t be such a bad investment. So, in the spring of 2009 we closed on our very first home and immediately dove into the renovation process.

Our goal was not necessarily to make the house extremely high end with top of the line products and finishes. After all this 1960s split level was never meant to be a multimillion dollar home! Rather, we wanted to upgrade the house so that it became a home with the ideal layout, look and feel for us.

I apologize for taking nearly 18 months to get this blog up and running. It hasn’t been the simplest task renovating a house with a husband who works full time and a baby! However, I assure you that the time has been spent very wisely and I can only hope that this blog was worth the wait. I realize that many of you have seen the house in various stages of the renovation process and that some of what you’ll be reading and seeing will be repetitive. Just bear with us, I’m sure each post will reveal a thing or two that’s new to you.
