The “Guest Room” Side

The “Guest Room” Side

So, I think it’s been long enough and we should get to what the “guest room” side of this room looks like completed. I’ll make this post sweet and simple, much like this guest room.

Prior to decorating, the guest room looked a little something like this:

Talk about a blank slate right? The furniture was my childhood bedroom set and since I still had hopes that I would someday have a daughter, I didn’t want to paint it and I definitely didn’t want to replace it. Thank goodness for that decision because baby #2 is in fact a girl!

As you can see the bedroom furniture is very traditional, and if you remember from the previous post, the “home office” side of the room was decorated very simply. Because of these two things I wanted the decor of this side of the room to also remain simple. I thought this quilt (as seen in the previous post) did the trick.

To complete the bedding in this room I purchased a standard white duvet from Homegoods (cost was $29) and two standard white shams from Overstock.com (cost was $20 for four but I only needed two for a twin bed). Then came the search for some wall art. I found these two coordinating pieces of art at Homegoods and loved how they tied into the blue of the quilt and of the bulletin board.

Then, I came across this unique mirror at Target for just $20! I didn’t care for the color of the frame but knew we could work around that.

I didn’t want any more blue in the room but wanted to tie the mirror into the color scheme somehow. I decided to spray paint the frame grey and it worked out beautifully!

Finally, an off-white shag rug was purchased so that the two sides of the room were distinguishable from each other.

With everything put in place the final look of the room is this:

I told you it was sweet and simple! It’s definitely nothing extravagant but I thought, considering you had seen the progress of the room up this point, it would be worth posting!
